The 71st annual TALG State Championship Tournament was held July 9-10 at Cottonwood Creek in Waco. The division winners were:

Open Division- Drew Baccus of Dallas shot 73-76, 149, edging Pat Kelly of Little River by 2 shots. Drew finished 2 nd in 2007.

Senior Division- Jim Crawford of Tallequah, Oklahoma, shot 80-76, 156, to win a squeaker over Ben Hagins' 157. Crawford had become the first “Okie” to win a Texas title when he won the 2002 Open Championship.

Super Senior Division- Felix Mudd, runner-up in 2007, of Port Lavaca, turned in an 83-80, 163, to nip Robert McKenzie and Bubba Baugh (Hot Springs Village, AR) by a single stroke.

The weather was extremely hot but all 30 players who signed up finished. We had 5 new lefties, three from Texas, one from Arkansas and one from Oklahoma, in addition to four other players from Oklahoma as well.
